With the release of Dani Marie’s elevated everyday wardrobe basics for plus size we wanted to showcase classic styles that were really well made, versatile, timeless and could be worn on high rotation.
These key pieces included a t-shirt, a shirt and a shirt dress.
Sounds simple enough but I’m sure that lots plus size folk will agree with me when I say that these are some of the hardest styles to find!
That’s why we are sharing an insight into what inspired the core capsule collection and give you a glimpse into our design process too.
Kally Oversized T-Shirt
One thing that people tell us about time and time again is their struggle to find a good t-shirt. I know that I definitely had this exact problem more than once.
Finding a plain top that wasn’t super clingy or see through used to be like trying to find gold dust. It still is, unless you know where to look.
With our Kally Oversized T-Shirt we wanted to offer a premium quality tee that gave us everything that we wanted in a t-shirt and nothing else. 
We opted for an oversized fit so it was comfy and could be worn all day with turned up sleeves that are roomy.
It also has an asymmetric hem with more length at the back and side slits to give you lots of coverage, movement and prevent belly cling.
A longer length was a key feature that we knew that we had to deliver on so we weren't afraid to keep coming back to this in our fit checks.
We launched our Kally Oversized T-Shirt first in ivory and it has been an instant hit, so much so, that we pushed forward the production of the t-shirt in navy and will follow with more colours soon too.
Matilda Oversized Shirt
Literally anything with a button up front would always leave me with so much gapping that it wasn’t even funny and don't even get me started on the belly cling. So try as I might to fit in with the corporate queen aesthetic, it was more like an ill fitting disaster.
That’s where the Matilda Oversized Shirt in White (more colours to come soon) came in.
The lightweight shirt, made from a delicate cotton/linen blend has a longline oversized fit with a curved hem and elbow length sleeves to give you full coverage.
Whilst perfectly placed features like hidden snaps and side slits at the hem to prevent belly cling give the shirt a considered finish that wouldn’t look out of place in the boardroom or the boardwalk.
Andrea Shirt Dress
The final piece I want to highlight from our core capsule collection is the blue and white striped Andrea Shirt Dress.
It’s a highly requested style but what makes it stand out as a shirt dress that is made just for curves includes the smocked waist and soft a-line skirt. It even has pockets!
For those of you who watch our TikTok will know, this dress has seen many iterations to get it just right. Including replacing a shirred waistband with a more smocked style and waist tie.
